The Dragon Hill Lodge pieces reference my time living in South Korea and the hotel that sat at the center of the U.S. Army base in Yongsan, Seoul. For me, the building became more than a landmark. It represents a period of my life defined by being somewhere completely new and discovering both a new culture and new parts of myself.
Living in Korea gave me the opportunity to experience a country far different from what I knew. Between the people I met, the places I explored, and the everyday experience of navigating a new environment, I learned to appreciate the excitement that comes from allowing yourself to be unfamiliar with something.
At the same time, being so far from home forced me to look inward. I learned more about who I was, what interested me, and the kind of person I wanted to become. Looking back, some of the most important things I discovered in Korea weren't only about the country around me. They were about myself.
The Dragon Hill Lodge graphic serves as a souvenir from that chapter, centered around a place that became a familiar landmark within an otherwise unfamiliar world.
